When a Flower Burns

During the summer of 1977, 16-year-old Jeff Maloney fell hard for Clara Bennington, the new girl in town who served ice cream at her parents’ store. While Jeff was mesmerized by her beauty, it was evident that Clara had a mysterious past, including an abusive father and an older boy, Clint, that seemed possessive about her. They spent every free moment together and quickly fell head over heels in love.

Near summers end, heartbreak took over Jeff's life, forcing him to run away. Upon his arrival back home, five years later, he reignited his faith in love with a familiar face, only to once again taste the bitterness of a battered heart. This time however, Jeff has the responsibility of a child to care for, which keeps him grounded, until he finds that not everything is as it appears.

When a Flower Burns is a coming of age romance that will warm the readers heavy heart. A suspenseful love story filled with hope, excitement, loss, and surprises.

“A beautiful, heart-wrenching story with an ideal combination of coming-of-age love and heartbreak”
~Booklife

”With bittersweet, complicated young love, family relationships, and enough mystery to keep readers turning pages, Meunier creates a story that, while seemingly simple, is in fact wonderfully complex and thoroughly enjoyable.”
