Synopsis

Prime Time TV / Family Comedy

When Trent Mooner's real estate business sinks, he just about loses everything. This forces him to pack up his wife (Kelsey) and son (Parker) and move in with his parents who live in the same small home he grew up in, in upstate NY.

Trent's parents, Gary and Nancy, are in their late 60's. Gary is a Vietnam veteran who wants things the way he wants them. He is a penny pincher and extremely conservative. Nancy is loud and very opinionated but also lovable. They both love their night time martinis, although retirement and old age has classified 'night time' as any time after 3pm.

When Trent and his family arrive at his old home, things kick right off with arguments, embarrassments and misunderstandings. It doesn't take long for Kelsey to realize why Trent always complained about his upbringing. Whether it's the "stealth-like" Gary following right behind you to turn off lights or the water that takes 10 minutes to get warm, or the extreme limit of privacy due to paper thin walls and eavesdropping, this house would drive any grown man and woman insane.

In the pilot, Trent and Kelsey have some rude awakenings when it comes to having "alone time". They overhear some very awkward conversations coming from Gary and Nancy's bedroom. They get caught publicly when trying to let off some steam in their mini-van. Trent's brother, Joe, who has always been jealous of Trent, arrives to welcome him back home, or better yet, relish in fact that he had to move back in with their parents. Gary walks in on a very unfortunate personal moment that Trent is having with himself in the basement. The lack of privacy is overwhelming in the Mooner house.

The price they are paying for Trent's business tanking is much worse than they thought it was.
